Summer Camps in Portugal for 2026: Cascais, Lisbon, Sintra & the Coast

Portugal is quietly becoming one of the best camp destinations in Europe. The Atlantic coast is stunning, the cost of living is significantly lower than western Europe, and there's a growing number of international camps that cater to English-speaking families. Plus, Lisbon and Cascais are incredibly family-friendly cities.

Village Camps — Santa Cruz
A residential camp for ages 13–17 on Portugal's Atlantic coast, running 2-week programs in July. They offer two tracks: an Adventure Camp (mountain biking, climbing, hiking) and a Surf Camp (surf lessons on the beach). Evenings include beach games, sunset walks, and water activities. If your teen wants an immersive, independent experience on the coast, this is it.

An international school running summer camps across Lisbon, Cascais/Estoril, and Sintra for ages 3–18. Activities include hiking, swimming, team sports, arts, music, and theater. Both day and sleepaway options available. The multi-location flexibility is great if you're moving around Portugal.

St. Peter's Discover Portugal Summer Camp — Palmela
Day or residential camp for ages 12–17, running late June through early August in 1–2 week sessions. Activities are adventure-heavy: surfing, sailing, kayaking, cave visits, skating, and hip-hop dance. Residential campers get evening activities too. A solid adventure camp south of Lisbon.

Boundless Life — Sintra
This is different — it's a family program, not a kids-only camp. Boundless Life runs an extended-stay experience in Sintra with a Reggio-inspired micro-school for kids, coworking for parents, thoughtfully designed apartments, and curated community events. If you're a remote-working family looking to spend a longer stretch in Portugal, this is a uniquely integrated option.

Why Portugal Works for Families
- Value. Portugal offers significantly better value than France, Switzerland, or the UK without sacrificing quality.
- The coast. The Atlantic beaches are world-class and most camps take advantage of them.
- Logistics. Lisbon airport is well-connected, and the country is compact — you can get from Lisbon to Cascais in 30 minutes, to Sintra in 45.
- Food. Portuguese food is incredibly family-friendly. Grilled fish, pastéis de nata, and very relaxed attitudes toward kids in restaurants.
